Caldy Bowmen fielded three teams at the Cheshire County Bowmen team Portsmouth shoot on Sunday 5th February 2023.
Two recurve teams and one compound team competed at the tournament. The teams consist of a mixture of senior gents, senior ladies and juniors, with
each team requiring to consist of at least two of those categories to be eligible.
All of those taking part thoroughly enjoyed the event with some claiming personal best scores along the way.

New Year's Day Frostbite Shoot
Happy New Year and welcome to 2023!
Caldy Bowmen celebrated the arrival of New Year's Day by holding our annual charity fundraising event; the New Year's Day Frostbite Round.
Many of the more hardy club members, some might even say foolhardy, turned out to shoot a Frostbite Round after an evening spent celebrating the arrival
of the New Year. The weather forecast was for rain showers, so everyone arrived suitably kitted out to deal with whatever Mother Nature sent our way.
The outdoor archery range was waterlogged due to the recent heavy rainfall and the range between the shooting line and targets quickly became very muddy.
This didn't dampen our enjoyment however. The sun came out and rain showers stayed away for the duration of the shoot. A few members decided to try shooting
with a bow style they do not normally use: recurve archers tried shooting compound and compound archers shot using a recurve bow. For these archers, personal best
scores were in their sights, not club records.
It is with great sadness that we received the news of the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. Our thoughts are with the Royal Family in their time of mourning.
Her Majesty has been the monarch since her accession to the throne in 1952, well before the club was founded in 1968. Many of the current club
members have known no other sovereign during their lives.
King Charles III ascended to the throne upon the passing of The Queen. Long Live The King.
Her Majesty The Queen
Stanley Soanes
The funeral of club member Stanley Soanes, was held 7th July at Landican Crematorium.
Stan had been a member of Caldy Bowmen for many years and was well liked within the club. He was a former member of the club committee,
having represented the interests of our junior members at the meetings and ensuring their needs were accommodated. He acted as a mentor for
new members, whether young or old.
The Club was well represented at his funeral and fourteen members, wearing club shirts, formed a 'Guard of Honour' as his coffin entered the
chapel for his funeral service.
The thoughts of the Club and all of its members are with his wife, Marj, and his family during this difficult time.
