Gronant Bowmen WA18 with H2H

Congratulations to Sam Hamlett, for finishing in 3rd place in the Ladies Compound class at the Gronant Bowmen WA18 Tournament held on 8th December 2019.

This is another good result for Sam.

Caldy Bowmen 40th Indoor Tournament

Caldy Bowmen held their 40th Indoor Portsmouth Tournament on Sunday 24th November 2019.

There was a good turnout of archers from across North West England and North Wales. Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the event successful, including club members who helped out on the day with scoring, field party members who sorted out issues with bosses and the team running the refreshment stand who kept us topped up with tea, coffee and cake to keep us all going.

Caldy Bowmen Annual Dinner

Caldy Bowmen held their annual dinner on Saturday 19th October, followed by the award ceremony for the outdoor season.

The event was organised by Club Secretary, Sam Hamlett and it was a lovely evening in a nice venue.

Congratulations to everyone who received an award on the evening (which is too numerous to list here). Well done.

Five Counties Tournament

Congratulations to Rob, who represented Cheshire in the Five Counties Tournament and finished in second place in the U18 Junior Gent Compound class.

Rob shot a Bristol 1 round and achieved a personal best score on the day. Rob's score also meant he claimed the Archery GB Red Rose award and the Caldy Bowmen club record.

Angela Swain Novice Shoot

Caldy Bowmen were represented at New Century Bowmen's Angela Swain Novice Shoot on 22nd September. This competition is only open to archers with less than two years experience.

Rob won the U18 Junior Gent Compound class, shooting a score that was the highest recorded on the day. He also claimed the Gents Best Gold award.

Suzanne finished in second place in the Ladies Recurve class and also claimed the Ladies Best Gold award.

Geoff finished outside of the prizes but shot a personal best score on the day.

Rod Pope Memorial Trophy

Congratulations to Sophie for winning the Rod Pope Memorial Trophy handicap on Sunday 1st September 2019.

The trophy is awarded to the club junior who achieves the highest handicapped score and Sophie shot a good round, in tricky conditions, to claim the trophy

Pat Fairclough Memorial Trophy

Congratulations to Heidi Hughes for winning the Pat Fairclough Memorial Trophy handicap on Sunday 1st September 2019.

The conditions were a bit windy during the shoot, but this did not stop Heidi shooting a winning score to claim the trophy.

CAA 43rd Junior Open Tournament

Congratulations to Rob for winning the U18 Cheshire Junior Gent Compound award at the Cheshire Archery Association 43rd Junior Open.

Conditions on the day were less than ideal, with strong cross winds to contend with.

Classification Improvement

Congratulations to Sam Hamlett who has achieved the classification of Bowman for 2019. This is very much deserved and reflects the improvement in her shooting.

Sam upgraded her bow this season and the scores she has been recording have proven what a worthwhile investment it was. Her scores have improved, her handicap has dropped (never mind Sam, you'll need to try harder to win the Handicap Tournament) and she has entered several competitions, winning trophies and bagging a few club records along the way.

Cheshire Weekend Success

Congratulations to Sam Hamlett for finishing third in the Ladies Compound Class at the Cheshire Archery Association 57th Cheshire Weekend held on Saturday 3rd August 2019.

Sam shot a WA1440 Round and finished third overall, but won the 1st Cheshire Ladies award and third place Englsh Archery Federation award.

LAA 65th Championships and Open Tournament

Congratulations to Sam Hamlett for finishing second in the Ladies Compound Class at the Lancashire Archery Association 65th Championships and Open Tournament held on Sunday 10th June 2019 at Assheton Bowmen.

Sam shot a Hereford Round and won the 1st Visitor prize.

LAA WA1440 Star and Open Tournament

Congratulations to Sam Hamlett for finishing second in the Ladies Compound Class at the Lancashire Archery Association WA1440 Star and Open Tournament held on Saturday 9th June 2019 at Assheton Bowmen.

The weather on the day was less than ideal, with a combination of wind and rain, but despite this, Sam managed a good score.

Coppell Cup Success

Congratulations to Sam Hamlett for finishing first in the Ladies Compound Class at the Wrexham Bowmen Coppell Cup tournament on Sunday 28th April 2019.

Sam achieved a personal best competing in the Hereford Round at the tournament, scoring 1125 which was not only the highest Hereford Round score on the day, but also the highest score overall.

Sam recently upgraded her bow and her scores have been increasing since then. Well done Sam.

Blackpool Bowmen Junior Metrics

Congratulations to Rob for finishing in first place in the U18 Junior Gent Compound class at the Blackpool Bowmen 2nd Junior Metrics competition, held on 28th April 2019.

Rob shot a Metric 1 round and the score he recorded was included in the Lancashire versus Cheshire county competition. Lancashire were victorious in the competition, winnning 3-2 overall.

Outdoor Shooting Season

The outdoor shooting season begins on Sunday 7th April at 1:30PM

Indoor Shooting Awards

Congratulations to all of the members who received their indoor shooting awards at the club AGM on 28th March 2019.

Fundraising for Bloodwise

Caldy Bowmen have been busy fundraising for the charity Bloodwise, in memory of Adam Clift, a junior member of the club who passed away one month before his 18th birthday, after falling ill with blood cancer.

Adam had been with the club for several years and was a promising archer.

The Club raised £655 through various events, including a 'Frostbite Shoot' on New Year's morning. A cheque was presented to Caroline and Richard Clift, Adam's parents, by Club Chair Carol Gardner.

Knockout Handicap and Club Championships

Congratulations to Sheila for winning the Knockout Handicap Competition on Sunday 10th March. Sheila also won the Lady Recurve title in the club championships.

Cheshire Archery Association Senior Indoor Championships

The Cheshire Archery Association held their AGM, followed by the Senior Indoor Championships on 3rd March 2019. Caldy Bowmen's John Gardner was narrowly beaten into fourth place, with only a couple of points in it. However, John didn't leave empty handed as he was awarded the Lord Paramount's prize.

Success at CAA Junior Indoor Championships

Congratulations to Rob, who finished in first place in the U18 Junior Gent Compound class, at the Cheshire Archery Association Junior Indoor Championship, held at Goldcrest Archers in Tameside.

Rob also collected the Best Overall Junior Gent Compound trophy, to go with U18 trophy and his winners medal.

First Beginner's Course of the Year

Caldy Bowmen Archery Club's first archery beginner's course of the year commenced on Sunday 10th February 2019. The event had a good turnout of members to help make the running of the course go smoothly and also participants, keen to sample the sport of Archery. The current course lasts for six weeks, with the next planned course due to start in June 2019.

Cheshire County Bowmen Portsmouth Tournament

Cheshire County Bowmen hosted a weekend of archery over 2nd and 3rd February 2019 at their indoor shooting venue. Caldy Bowmen were represented on both days in the individual and teams events. Rob did well, in what was only his second competitive shoot, finishing in first place in the Junior Gent Compound class for the individual event.

Caldy entered a compound and recurve team, but unfortunately were not successful in the team events on the second day. However Rob was the highest scoring Junior Gent Compound archer and took home another trophy for his efforts. Well done to everyone who took part.

Gronant Bowmen WA18

Congratulations to Sam Hamlett, for finishing in 3rd place in the Ladies Compound class at the Gronant Bowmen WA18 Tournament held on 27th January 2019.

Sam had to compete first in a qualifying round and then in three head-to-head knockout stages. It's a fantastic achievement.

Frostbite Shoot

Thanks to everyone who joined the Frostbite Shoot on 1st January 2019 at Paton Field. It was a lovely morning, if a little chilly! We shot 36 arrows at 30m and raised £55 for the Bloodwise charity - What a great way to start the New Year.
