Caldy Bowmen fielded three teams at the Cheshire County Bowmen team Portsmouth shoot on Sunday 5th February 2023.
Two recurve teams and one compound team competed at the tournament. The teams consist of a mixture of senior gents, senior ladies and juniors, with each team requiring to consist of at least two of those categories to be eligible.
All of those taking part thoroughly enjoyed the event with some claiming personal best scores along the way.
Caldy Bowmen were represented by Ray, Dan, Joe and Krys at the Eagle Bowmen New Year Triology event, where they got to shoot a Bray 1, Bray 2 and Worcester rounds.
Although no trophies were won, personal best scores were achieved and experience of competetive shooting was gained.
Happy New Year and welcome to 2023!
Caldy Bowmen celebrated the arrival of New Year's Day by holding our annual charity fundraising event; the New Year's Day Frostbite Round.
Many of the more hardy club members, some might even say foolhardy, turned out to shoot a Frostbite Round after an evening spent celebrating the arrival of the New Year. The weather forecast was for rain showers, so everyone arrived suitably kitted out to deal with whatever Mother Nature sent our way.
The outdoor archery range was waterlogged due to the recent heavy rainfall and the range between the shooting line and targets quickly became very muddy.
This didn't dampen our enjoyment however. The sun came out and rain showers stayed away for the duration of the shoot. A few members decided to try shooting with a bow style they do not normally use: recurve archers tried shooting compound and compound archers shot using a recurve bow. For these archers, personal best scores were in their sights, not club records.
Everyone attending the shoot made a donation towards the club supported charity: The Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital Charity
